Why is my book listed on Bookshop.org?

Modified on Tue, 19 Mar 2024 at 10:59 AM

Often books published under self-publishing platforms such as the KDP service are added to Bookshop.org when the author/publisher of the title(s) opts-in for expanded distribution. Expanded distribution adds the title to our distributor, Ingram's inventory and in turn lists the title(s) on Bookshop.org. If you do not wish to have your book listed on Bookshop.org, try opting-out of expanded distribution.

If your book is still listed on Bookshop.org and you want it removed, we will remove it from the platform in accordance with the following procedure as set out in our Terms and Conditions of Use:

If any Person believes in good faith that its intellectual property has been used on the Website in a way that constitutes copyright or trademark infringement under applicable law, such Person or its agent (each, a “Claimant”) may provide Bookshop.org with a written notice containing the following:

•    Claimant’s name, address, telephone number, and email address;

•    A description of the work that  Claimant claims has been infringed;

•    A description of where on the Website the material Claimant claims is infringing may be found, sufficient for Bookshop.org to locate the material (e.g., the URL);

•    A statement that Claimant has a good faith belief that the use of the work is not authorized by the rights owner, its agent, or applicable law;

•    A statement by Claimant under penalty of perjury under applicable law that the information in its notice is accurate and that Claimant is the rights owner or authorized to act on the rights owner’s behalf; and

•    Claimant’s electronic or physical signature.
