Bookshop.org doesn't make a profit from our Bookstore.org affiliate sales; we make a small percentage on all other sales. The publisher is generally paid about 50% of a book's sale price, and the publisher pays the author based on the author's contract with its publisher. About 20% of a book's sale price goes to customer discounts, payment processing, and fulfillment costs. Out of the remainder, 10% of all non-bookstore affiliated sales go to our profit sharing pool which is distributed to the bookstores on our platform, ensuring that every sale on Bookshop.org supports independent bookstores
